Gas companies and car companies?

is it ture that gas companies make deals with car companies to make cars that will use so much gas. like i have a friend who had a truck that was soo good on gas that he emailed the car company ( toyota tundra) and they told him that they mistakenly put in a super computer chip that maximized fuel economy and made it super efficient, but they aid they had to remove it becasue they had a deal with gas companies. cuz if ur car is wasting more gas, then ud have to buy more
