In the movie orphan, i was confused by the altranent ending, did she die or not?

i bought the movie orphan and i thought it was cool. the only bad part about it is that i dont understand the altranent ending. She just walks down the stairs all happy like she did nothing and that she was hurt by herself. I think that it is weird that the firemen and police thought it was just fine. Any help?
