Does birth control stay effective after many years of use?

No, it doesn't stay effective forever. I was on the pill for 10 years and am pregnant now. It did take a couple of months, after stopping birth control, for me to ovulate. That's only because for 10 years, the pill was preventing ovulation so my body had to gear back up for it. It won't make you infertile.
