What can I file bankruptcy on?

I am filing bankruptcy my husband an I have way to much debt. He has garnishment'ss on his check and we also have an eviction on our records and owe the landord alot of money. We are having to file because we have a sick child and I went through a battle with cancer. Its not something we want to do its something we have to do. I have been told we cant file on the garnishments already in place and the eviction. Is this true? I am asking on here because every lawyer I have talked wants $550 just for a consultation.
